That Little Twitch a poem by Vera D.

It was just a little twitch on my left leg

It had come so uninvited into my life

But no big deal, Right?

You better get that checked out,

that little twitch on your left leg

So uninvited

A neurologist would be best to check

that little twitch on my left leg,

But wait, it’s my leg not my head

So, off to the neurologist I go

To check that little twitch on my left leg

It’s no big deal, Right?

What? That little twitch on my left leg?

It’s early on set Parkinson’s

No big deal, go home be happy

Go home? Be Happy?

My world just turn upside down

Because of that little twitch on my left leg

How long, I ask before I can’t walk?

As that little twitch on my left leg takes over?

It’s OK, go home be happy.

Fifteen years? There will be a cure

Before that little twitch on your left leg

Becomes tremors you can’t control

But wait, I haven’t danced yet!

Oh God, let me dance

With that little twitch on my left leg

It’s 15 years later since that

Little twitch on my left leg

Took up permanent residency in my body

In this life, trials and troubles come

Like that little twitch on my left leg

And God’s grace is more

I’ve been given more

Creativity, art, writing and dancing

With that little twitch on my left leg

Great fellow PwP sojourners

To share the journey

With their little twitches however big

          Together we are stronger

Because we’ve learned how to

Live with those little twitches
